Getting started: from signup to your first sale

Create your restaurant, work through the setup checklist and ring a test order.

About 6 minutes to read

Everything starts in the owner dashboard at admin.dinestack.app. You create the restaurant there, set it up, and connect your tablets to it.

1. Create your restaurant

  1. Go to dinestack.app and choose Create your restaurant.
  2. Choose Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft, or fill in your name, email and a password of at least 10 characters.
  3. Enter your restaurant name, your currency (US or Canadian dollars) and your restaurant’s time zone. The time zone decides where your business day, shifts and reports start and end.
  4. Press Create restaurant with email (or Create restaurant after Google or Microsoft). You land on the setup checklist.

If you signed up with an email address, DineStack sends you a link to confirm it. Open it and press Confirm my email address. You can connect tablets only after the owner email is confirmed. The link lasts 24 hours; the checklist can send a new one.

2. Work through the setup checklist

The checklist at Setup shows each step as Ready, Attention, Not configured or Not required, and how far along you are. First it asks four questions about how you run — whether you have your own delivery drivers, how orders are marked ready, whether you print receipts, and how you take cards — so it only shows the steps that apply to you.

  • Restaurant — the name guests see on receipts, your address and contact details.
  • Region, currency and time zone.
  • Tax — add your tax rate under Money → Tax & currency. A 0% rate is flagged for a second look.
  • Menu — your real menu. The sample menu does not count.
  • Kitchen — your kitchen stations, if you have more than one.
  • Staff and Register PINs — at least one person who can sign in at the register.
  • Devices — at least one tablet connected.
  • Kitchen screen — only if your orders are marked ready on a kitchen screen.
  • Test order — the last step, below.

3. Ring a test order

  1. On your register, sign in with your register PIN.
  2. Tap a few items, then send the order to the kitchen.
  3. Take payment — cash is fine.
  4. Come back to Setup. The test order step turns green.

When nothing that blocks trading is left, the checklist shows Operationally ready. You are ready for your first real shift.
