Working offline

What keeps working when the internet drops, and what happens when it comes back.

About 2 minutes to read

DineStack runs on the tablet itself. When the internet drops, service carries on, and the screen always says which state it is in.

What works with no connection

  • Staff sign-in and the time clock.
  • The full menu and search.
  • Taking orders and sending them to the kitchen.
  • The kitchen board on the same tablet.
  • Cash sales and change.
  • Waste, receiving and 86 on the register.

What waits for the connection

  • Card acceptance depends on your connection and your payment provider; a cash sale does not.
  • Orders from other registers reach this tablet’s kitchen board once it reconnects.
  • Kitchen history, screen setup and reports in the owner dashboard.

How to tell

The pill at the top reads Online, Offline or Degraded, and shows how many records are waiting, for example “Offline · 3 to sync”. Tap it for the register’s status. When the connection returns, everything waiting is sent once — never twice — and the pill goes back to Online.

If a register has not reached DineStack for more than a day, new sign-ins pause until it reconnects; people already signed in keep working. Reconnect the tablet to Wi-Fi to refresh staff access.
